Mayser Safety Bumpers are active safety devices designed to protect personnel from injury and machinery from damage, particularly in applications requiring a longer stopping distance. Unlike rigid safety measures, the soft body of our bumpers absorbs impact energy while simultaneously triggering an immediate, reliable safety switch-off.

Constructed from soft polyurethane (PUR) foam and encased in a durable, specialized skin, these bumpers are the ideal addition to any collision protection system, ensuring optimal safeguarding of pinching and shearing edges.

Principle of Operation

Safety Bumpers function as large-area, pressure-sensitive switches. They integrate an internal switching system that operates according to the Normally Closed (NC) and Normally Open (NO) principle. Upon contact, the foam body is compressed, activating the integrated switch and sending a signal to the machine controller to immediately halt movement. The soft foam ensures that this process occurs gently over a sufficient stopping distance.
